TRAINING WORKSHOPS

The TiTAN Greece & Cyprus Training is designed to build knowledge and skills of primary care providers in delivery the latest evidence-based practices for addressing tobacco use with clients. The training session will include presentations from international experts in tobacco control and breakout sessions with case studies to build clinician skills in the tobacco treatment delivery.

TiTAN Crete Primary Care Smoking Cessation Training

Upon completion of the workshop, participant will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of nicotine addiction.
  • Define the fundamental elements of evidence based tobacco treatment delivery and techniques for addressing smoking with patients using the 3A’s (Ask, Advise, Act) for smoking cessation in clinical settings.
  • Deliver effective advice to quit smoking to patients motivated and not motivated to quit
  • Describe principles in the use of pharmacotherapy and best practices in the use of first-line pharmacotherapies for smoking cessation.
  • Implement effective techniques for motivating smokers and preparing for a quit attempt within a brief clinic visit and addressing common barriers (e.g. motivation, cravings, caffeine) to successful quitting.
  • Understand techniques for tobacco treatment in special populations.
  • Become familiar with the practice tools (Tobacco Use Survey, Smoking Consult Form, and Quit Plan) and protocols for applying the OMSC in your practice setting.
  • Understand the role of clinicians in tobacco control policies.
